How retail IPO access works
Most IPO shares go to big funds through the underwriting banks. A slice can go to everyday investors through brokers that run IPO programs. You request shares (a conditional offer to buy) after the price range is set, the broker confirms your request once the deal prices, and you may get all, some, or none of what you asked for.
Hot deals are usually oversubscribed, so allocations can be small or zero. Some brokers also limit selling soon after the first trade; check the broker's flipping policy before you request shares.
If you don't get an allocation
Any broker can buy ANT once it starts trading on the open market, usually late morning or early afternoon on the first day. The opening price can be far from the offer price in either direction.
